Our Story

Creating a Haven for Connection & Peace

From the beginning, our intention has been simple:

To offer a peaceful, off-grid sanctuary where people can slow down, unwind, and gently return to themselves.

Across seven acres of fruit forest, permaculture gardens, walking paths, and flowing creek water, guests are invited to:

  • sink into natureโ€™s stillness
  • pause the demands of everyday life
  • step into nourishing yoga, meditation, and sound healing
  • enjoy slow, wholesome farm-to-table meals
  • reconnect with what matters most
  • feel part of a warm, welcoming community

We have shaped every part of this retreat with care โ€” the yoga shala, the glamping tents, the forest pathways, the orchard โ€” each area offering space to rest, breathe, and find clarity.

What Makes Mt Jukes Special

Guests often say the magic of Mt Jukes isnโ€™t something you can photograph โ€” itโ€™s something you feel the moment you arrive.

Itโ€™s the combination of:

  • Warmth and genuine welcome
  • A deep sense of safety and acceptance
  • Peaceful off-grid living
  • Forest, fruit trees, and natural water
  • Community connection
  • Simplicity
  • Space to breathe

It is a place where strangers become friends, where silence feels nourishing, and where nature gently unwinds the mind and body.

Your Invitation to Pause & Reconnect

Whether you join a Day Retreat, a Weekend Escape, or simply stay in our peaceful glamping accommodation, Mt Jukes Eco Retreat offers a place to rest, reset, and reconnect.

Here, youโ€™re not just a guest โ€”
you become part of our wider retreat family.

Welcome to our sanctuary.
Welcome to Mt Jukes.

The Heart of Mt Jukes Eco Retreat

Deep in the foothills of Mt Jukes, surrounded by forest, fruit trees, and spring-fed creek water, a quiet vision has grown into something much larger than a retreat. Mt Jukes Eco Retreat is a sanctuary built on purpose, community, and the belief that nature restores what the modern world depletes.

This is the story of how our journey, our values, and our land came together to create a peaceful haven for all who visit.

From Vision to Sanctuary

Mt Jukes Eco Retreat began with a simple and heartfelt realisation:
in a fast-paced, digitally driven world, people need a place to pause, breathe, and reconnect โ€” with themselves, with nature, and with one another.

After years of spiritual practice, travel, and learning across India, Bali, and Thailand, we discovered a profound truth:

Healing is deeper in community.
Transformation happens when people gather with intention โ€” sharing space, meals, movement, conversation, and quiet moments in nature.

We dreamt of creating a place where this could unfold naturally.
A place where the land could speak, nature could guide, and people could feel truly welcome.

That dream became Mt Jukes Eco Retreat.

A Family-Led Sanctuary

Mt Jukes Eco Retreat is run with heart, simplicity, and genuine care.

Together, we steward this land, tend the gardens, prepare the meals, and hold space for every person who arrives. Guests often tell us they feel โ€œheld,โ€ โ€œreset,โ€ โ€œembraced by nature,โ€ and that being here feels like coming home.

We see ourselves not only as retreat facilitators, but as hosts โ€” welcoming you into the quiet sanctuary weโ€™ve created and cared for with love.

Nourishing the Community

Our land is abundant.
With more than 350 fruit trees and a growing food forest, we are committed to sharing this abundance with the community.

As our gardens flourish, we will donate surplus produce to local womenโ€™s shelters and services assisting people experiencing homelessness โ€” honouring the generosity of this land by giving back to those in need.

Wonderful, relaxing stay. Beautiful, natural setting, with well tended areas. Variety of accommodation options and all beautifully appointed, professionally finished. Food provided was excellent, with quality ingredients and delicious at every meal. Complimentary bathroom organic wash etc. Bidets installation must make a great difference to the sustainability success of the enterprise. Yoga, meditation, infra-red saunas, creek dips were all very well appreciated and educational. Thank you for the retreat and all the efforts you made the weekend ๐Ÿ’•

From the moment we arrived I could feel my body start to relax. Hard to sum up in a few words the effect 2 days/nights has had on me. The view, the incredibly comfortable bed, the shower, the bath with the salts laying back in that on the deck with the fire going was amazing! I really want to go on and on and will be to anyone who cares to listen best place ever I feel like a new person and already planning my next stay!

I booked this stay for my partner knowing full well sheโ€™d love it, I myself wasnโ€™t sure what Iโ€™d think of it, however by the end of our stay I can honestly say this was an amazing experience that will stick with my forever! Before arriving I wasnโ€™t sure how Iโ€™d find the food (not being a vegetarian myself) but Auneโ€™s cooking was amazing!! Having left feeling relaxed and refreshed, this is definitely a place Iโ€™d put on my bucket list if I was visiting the Mackay region ๐Ÿ˜Š Photos below are the view from our glamping tent

What a world class place. The glamping tents are spectacular, spacious and very comfortable. Bamboo keeps your privacy for the outdoor bath. Well worth the cost. The outdoor ensuite is well designed and thought through with views to the mountain while showering - and private. The team there are very hospitable, knowledgeable friendly and make the stay very special. We will be back to this transformative, relaxing and special place.

Oh my. This resort is amazing. You canโ€™t look away from the mountains, it is just spectacular. 4 of us ladies went to unwind and reduce our stress levels. We definitely did that. Dave organised us yoga, breath work and sound therapy - all were amazing and highly recommend. We also had a sauna and a dip in the creek and on my it was my favourite part! We went early July and the cold weather was perfect. We stayed in the glamping tents and they are well though out with everything you need including an ensuite. We also had a campfire. Food was amazing and I highly recommend. Dave continually thought about our stay and how to make it amazing and exactly what we wanted. We only wished we stayed longer. We will definitely be back and canโ€™t wait for our next stay.

Absolutely stunning place. So many little details that makes the place very special and unique. Dave and Auna are lovely and kind people and you can see the love they put into this place. I was part of the day retreat and it was the perfect day. Starting with traditional Yoga, which was for me a new but absolutely amazing experience. Then Sauna and swimming and refreshing in the creek to a delicious and nutritious lunch to a very calimg and relaxing sound healing meditation. The whole day felt just perfect, calming and perfect to recharge and reconnect with yourself. The accommodation was the perfect addition to the whole experience. I definitely can recommend the weekend escape experience for everyone to slow down at least for a weekend.
